The cardioid is a single curve ie having only one equation that takes the shape of a heart and its Cartesian equation follows. All circles that pass through the fixed point P and have their centres on the yellow circle have a cardioid as an envelope. However the radii of both the circles remains the same. This certainly results in a better looking heart shape however it is not anywhere as mathematically interesting as the cardioid and it certainly doesnt appear spontaneously in nature like the cardioid.
